Calculate voice-agent usage

Voice-agent usage combines the configuration's credit rate with answered or tested duration. Rates come from the live credit-cost registry and may change independently of application code.

Modular rate

credits per minute = platform base + speech recognition + language model + voice synthesis

Provider and model names are normalized to the corresponding cost keys. An unknown configuration falls back to the platform's default component rate.

Realtime rate

credits per minute = platform base + Realtime pipeline rate

The Realtime pipeline rate is selected for the OpenAI, Gemini, or xAI Realtime family. Separate Modular speech-recognition and voice-synthesis components are not added to that rate.

Duration aggregation

Wirevox bills complete minutes from an agent-specific seconds accumulator:

total seconds = prior carryover + completed call duration
billed minutes = floor(total seconds / 60)
new carryover = total seconds modulo 60
credits = billed minutes × the agent rate

Example: two 35-second calls by the same agent produce one billable minute and leave 10 carryover seconds. Two different agents do not share carryover.

If an agent's stack changes before existing carryover crosses a minute boundary, those banked seconds are billed at the newer rate. The current implementation does not rate-stamp partial minutes.

Which configuration sets the rate

  • A live phone call uses the published configuration snapshot resolved for that call.
  • A browser voice test uses the draft snapshot authorized when its test session starts.
  • Changing a draft during an active session does not rewrite that session's loaded configuration.

Live and test duration

Live calls use answered duration. Unanswered calls are not billed as answered voice usage. When a call transfers, AI-handled duration can stop at the stored transfer time and the transfer action is metered separately.

Browser voice tests consume credits too. Their elapsed test duration flows through the same per-agent carryover mechanism.

Verify a call charge

Open Call Logs, expand the call, and inspect Voice Usage separately from Tools (SMS, Transfers). The ledger quantity is the source of truth; do not multiply one short call's displayed seconds by a rounded minute rate without including that agent's carryover.
