Search for and acquire a number

Real phone-number provisioning is available to subscribed workspaces with a plan that includes phone-number access. The Numbers page shows the workspace's included-number allowance and extra-number count.

Plan allowances and extra-number prices are configuration data and can change. Treat the current Numbers and Billing pages—and the purchase confirmation—as the source of truth instead of copying an old price into an internal process.

Search available inventory

  1. Open Numbers in the intended workspace.
  2. Select Find numbers or the search tab.
  3. Choose the country.
  4. Choose Local or Toll-Free.
  5. Optionally enter three digits for an area-code search or more digits to find a sequence within the number.
  6. Review the returned region, type, and displayed cost.
  7. Apply the price filter or sort order if needed.

The current country picker includes the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands. Results come from live Telnyx voice-enabled inventory, so availability can differ by country, region, and time.

A search result is not reserved. Another customer can acquire it before your purchase completes.

Acquire the number

  1. Select a search result.
  2. Review the exact number, region, Local or Toll-Free type, and whether it is included or an extra paid number.
  3. Confirm the purchase.
  4. Wait for the number to appear in Inventory before assigning it.

An included number consumes an available plan allowance. An extra number adds the plan's current recurring number charge to the active subscription and is charged as described in the confirmation.

The provider order and the Wirevox inventory record are created during the same request. If the request fails, do not repeatedly click purchase without first refreshing Inventory and Billing; confirm whether the provider order or subscription charge already exists.

Included-number boundary

If a released included number is still in its 30-day grace period, Wirevox reserves that number for reclamation. Acquiring a different number while that included number remains reserved can make the new number a paid extra even when the active inventory appears below the normal free limit.

Reclaim the reserved number or deliberately accept the displayed extra-number charge.

Choose a suitable number

  • Choose a country and region appropriate for the audience and business.
  • Prefer a local number when local presence matters.
  • Use Toll-Free only when the workflow and geographic audience justify it.
  • Confirm that required calling and messaging behavior is allowed for the selected country and use case.
  • Do not advertise the number until it appears in inventory and passes an external call test.

Number acquisition does not assign or start an agent. Those are separate actions.
