Upload files and images to Vox

You can select files, drag them onto the composer, or paste a PNG or JPEG from the clipboard. Files are staged above the input and are not sent immediately, so you can add instructions in the same message.

Supported formats

TypeFormats
DocumentsPDF, TXT, CSV, DOCX, XLSX
ImagesJPG, JPEG, PNG

You can attach at most two files per chat message, with a maximum size of 10 MB per file. Wirevox validates both the extension and MIME type and checks file signatures for PDF, PNG, and JPEG.

Image attachments show the actual image in a square preview. Other attachments show a uniform square tile with the file type. The same attachment presentation appears after sending.

Analysis behavior

Vox can inspect image content and text visible in an image. Images are sent for high-detail visual analysis. Documents are analyzed through the configured model provider; Wirevox can fall back to local text extraction for supported document formats when provider analysis fails.

The model receives a bounded attachment-analysis context, currently about 10,000 characters across the attachments in one turn. A long file can therefore be summarized or truncated rather than reproduced completely.

Storage and retention

Original uploads are stored in a private workspace- and user-scoped attachment bucket. Temporary provider files used for document analysis are deleted after analysis. Vox chat attachments expire after 7 days and an automated cleanup runs every six hours.

Adding an attachment to a knowledge base marks it as ingested but does not make the original chat upload permanent. The extracted knowledge chunks follow the knowledge-base lifecycle.

Upload is not ingestion

Analyzing a file does not automatically add it to RAG. Ask Vox to create a knowledge base or add the attachment to an existing one, then review and approve the source-ingestion action.
